Alan De La Vara has been serving as an Outreach & Recruitment Specialist at Pasadena City College since 2008.
Prior to that he was the Program Coordinator for the GEAR UP Program at both Los Angeles Mission College and California State University Northridge.
He began his educational journey at a community college earning his Associate of Arts degree in Administration of Justice and then transferred to the CSU Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Argosy University Orange County.
Whether he was working with the GEAP UP program helping low-income middle and high school students prepare for and succeed in postsecondary education. Or, working at Pasadena City College helping provide prospective students with information regarding programs and services available to them at PCC.
He has spent over 20 years motivating students to strive to do their academic best as well as then assisting them in making informed and educated decisions regarding post-secondary education.
